BMO Pre-Approved Credit Card Offers – Terms and Conditions

Opting in will allow the AIR MILES Reward Program to share personal information (“data sharing”) about you with Bank of Montreal (“BMO”), and you are providing your consent to receive offers from BMO so that BMO can extend Pre-Approved Offers of credit to qualifying individuals for BMO credit cards. Please read about our data sharing for pre-approval with BMO.

When an AIR MILES collector clicks the “Opt in” button in the invitation, they are confirming the following: I have read, understand and consent to the below “Important Information about Sharing Personal Information and Consent with BMO for Pre-Approved Offers.” I understand that I can withdraw my consent at any time by visiting the AIR MILES app or website, clicking on the “Account” tab and selecting “Opt out of BMO pre-approval” under “Profile information.” Or, by updating my profile under the “Your Profile” tab. Withdrawing my consent will not otherwise affect my continued participation in the AIR MILES Reward Program.

When you opt in and consent, the AIR MILES Reward Program will share your first name, last name, address and date of birth you have provided AIR MILES with Bank of Montreal (“BMO”) so that BMO may present pre-approved BMO  credit product offers (“Pre-Approved Offers”) to you if you meet the minimum criteria for those Pre-Approved Offers. 

Pre-Approved Offers presented to you may vary and may not be presented to everyone. If you don’t meet the minimum criteria established by BMO, you won’t receive a Pre-Approved Offer.

By consenting and opting in to sharing your personal information, you’re giving BMO permission to make a soft inquiry on your credit using the personal information listed above for the purpose of evaluating whether you meet the criteria for any Pre-Approved Offer. BMO will use your information for this purpose unless you withdraw your consent. A soft inquiry is a credit report check that is used for BMO’s information purposes only, and it does not affect your credit score.

You can easily opt out if you decide the Pre-Approval Offers aren’t right for you. You can withdraw your consent by opting out of the BMO pre-approval feature in your online AIR MILES “Account” profile under “Profile information.”

If you opt out, BMO will remove your name from Pre-Approved Offers under these Terms. You may continue to receive Pre-Approved Offers while your opt-out is processed. Also, you may receive other offers from BMO that are unrelated to the Pre-Approved Offers referred to here and opting out from Pre-Approved Offers won’t affect whether you receive those offers.

AIR MILES will notify BMO to stop any further BMO activities related to BMO Pre-Approved Offers, and BMO will delete the personal information provided to BMO for the purpose of presenting Pre-Approved Offers to you, unless prohibited by law.

Your opt-out will be reflected in your AIR MILES collector profile, and AIR MILES will no longer send personal information listed above to BMO for Pre-Approved Offers, unless prohibited by law.

Withdrawing your consent will not otherwise affect your continued participation in the AIR MILES Reward Program.

However, please note, if you opt out, personal information about you held by AIR MILES may still continue to be shared with BMO for purposes described in the AIR MILES Reward Program Privacy Commitment.

And if you change your mind and would like to continue receiving Pre-Approved Offers from BMO, rest assured that you can choose to opt in again at any time.
