Transitioning from AIR MILES to Blue Rewards

Short answer is nothing happens. Your AIR  MILES account has transitioned to Blue Rewards. Here's what to know:

  • Your Miles have been converted to Blue Points with no loss in value
  • Your account details and activity history remain the same
  • Your Collector number will stay the same but will be called "Member number" going forward
  • Your AIR MILES card keeps working after the transition to Blue Rewards

No, you do not have to be a BMO customer to become a Blue Rewards Member, but BMO customers do benefit from accelerated earn opportunities.

  1. Visit bluerewards.ca, from the Account dropdown select login, and follow the prompts using your AIR MILES login credentials.
  2. If this is your first time signing in since the transition to Blue Rewards, you may be asked to confirm or set up email and password credentials. To do this, you will be prompted to provide a Canadian phone number (of the primary account holder) to receive a verification code.
  3. Now you can use your email address and password to log into your Blue Rewards account. 
  4. If you have an AIR MILES PIN, it is now your Blue Rewards PIN, but you will no longer need it to log in to your account. Using your PIN when you call Customer Care will help us help you faster.

 

You must have an email address and telephone number to access your Blue Rewards account. This is the best way to keep your account and Points safe.

Digital Wallet, Cards, and App

No, we kept it simple. Your AIR MILES card still works, and your Collector number will stay the same but will be called "Member number" going forward. For the smoothest experience, we recommend downloading the Blue Rewards app if you haven't already. Your digital Blue Rewards card is refreshed and ready to use.

  1. If you have automatic app updates set up, your AIR MILES app will update to Blue Rewards automatically. 
  2. If you do not have automatic app updates turned on, you will see the AIR MILES app icon after the transition.  When you tap to open the app you will be prompted with a “update app” screen. Follow the prompts to update to the Blue Rewards app.

Yes, the AIR MILES Card in your Digital Wallet still works, but why not update the card to the new Blue Rewards look?

 

To update the digital card to Blue Rewards: open the Blue Rewards app > tap card icon (top right) > tap "add to wallet"

 

To remove your old AIR MILES digital card: open the Blue Rewards app > tap on old AIR MILES card > tap "more" or "…" (top right) > tap "remove pass"

Your AIR MILES card will still work. For the smoothest experience, we recommend downloading the Blue Rewards app if you haven't already. Your digital Blue Rewards card is refreshed and ready to use.

 

If you'd like a new physical card, visit bluerewards.ca, log in to your account, navigate to support centre > self-service tools > Manage Card.

Miles to Blue Points

This is part of the Blue Rewards transition, rest assured, everything in your account is working exactly as it should. Here’s what to know:

  • Transactions that were posted before June 2, 2026 will show as Miles.
  • Transactions that are posted on or after June 2, 2026, will show as Points with no loss in value with the conversion.
  • Points in limbo: Miles earned before June 2, 2026 that weren't posted before the transition will be automatically converted and posted as Points, with no loss in value.

We never want our Members to miss out on rewards.

 

  • As long as you have earned or redeemed Miles/Points within the last 24 months*, your account remains active.
  • If you have not earned or redeem Miles/Points in 24 months*, your account will become dormant and your points will be removed.

 

When possible, we will notify you by email and web alert no more than 60 days before your account becomes dormant. Please make sure your email address is up to date in your account profile so we can contact you!

 

*”Last 24 months” includes your program activity prior to the Blue Rewards transition, meaning if you had not earned or redeemed prior to the Blue Rewards transition, those months of inactivity count toward your 24 months of inactivity.
